Bay Area Choral Society

Dana Moore Langford

Since 1989, the Bay Area Choral Society (BACS) has been committed to providing choral musical excellence in the Forgotten Coast Area. Our volunteer chorus features local accomplished musicians who have joined our ranks for the past 40 years. The mission of BACS is to both entertain and educate our audiences. With music and narrative, we expose them to various genres and eras of music and strive to provide the highest quality performance and educational experiences. BACS presents two different concerts per season, each December and Spring, in Gulf and Franklin counties with some audience members traveling from other counties. Gulf and Franklin counties are located in the panhandle of Florida and are often referred to as The Forgotten Coast. The Bay Area Choral Society (BACS) performs two concerts each year in both Gulf and Franklin counties. For their Spring 2024 concert, BACS commissioned Mr. Ed Hogan to compose a song that expresses how the beauty of our surroundings on the forgotten coast fill us with music. The song titled “The Maker’s Song” debuted at the concert with Ed Hogan performing with the choir.

Dana Moore Langford, Bay Area Choral Society Choral Director, is originally from Oneonta, Alabama. She graduated from Auburn University with a BS in Music Education and a Master of Music Education where she was a member of Auburn University Singers and Student Conductor of the Concert Choir. Soddy United Methodist Church Chancel Choir

Carla Anderson
The Soddy UMC choir is comprised of extremely devoted members who enhance the weekly worship services with their beautiful voices. The all-volunteer group has a deep desire to provide a successful music ministry to the congregation as well as the community. A favorite community outreach is providing music when their pastor, Rev. J. Todd Kingrea, serves holy communion to residents at a local health care facility. Ministry for seniors is a main focus of the church and the choir members enjoy old-fashioned caroling for the shut-ins during the Christmas season. A variety of music is performed throughout the year with cantatas and special music events. The church began as The Friendship Church and ultimately evolved into a United Methodist church. The choir is preparing music to celebrate the 165th year of their church’s existence in 2025.
Carla Anderson has been a volunteer pianist and choir director since her teenage years, beginning with the Methodist Youth Fellowship as an accompanist for their musical presentations. Her interest in directing began in high school where she served as Drum Major for the marching band, and also played the flute. Carla has attended Soddy UMC since she was baptized as an infant becoming the fourth-generation of her family to be members of this beautiful, small-town church. The church is in a community nestled in the foothills of the southern Appalachian Mountains on the Tennessee River in East Tennessee. Many immigrants settled there, especially from Wales, to work in the coal mines. Carla’s Welsh ancestors began her family’s legacy as musicians, dating back to her great-great-grandfather whose antique pump organ she still owns. She along with organists/pianists Nancy Woodall and Barbara Hendren lead the very successful music program for their church. This is her second time to perform with Joseph Martin through DCINY. She has been married to Mike for 41 years. They have one adult son, Kyle.

Our mission is to encourage believers to use their God-given gifts and talents to inspire others in worship, drawing hearts toward the one true God. Through music and the arts, we seek to create an atmosphere where Christ is exalted, and lives are transformed by His presence.

Orchard Lake Community Church, Presbyterian, Chancel Choir

Bruce Snyder
The Chancel Choir at Orchard Lake Church provides weekly leadership in all services. Entirely made up of volunteers, they seek to use their talents, energies and shared musical experiences to bring glory to God in the church, and to encourage those who listen to deepen their faith journey. Responsible for several special events each year, the choir has performed both historic works and contemporary works with full orchestral accompaniment. In a congregation that just celebrated it's 150th anniversary, they are a vital part of the comprehensive ministries at Orchard Lake.
A veteran musician, Mr. Snyder taught choral music for 35 years, and has been a church musician for over 50 years, almost 30 at Orchard Lake. A past-president of the Michigan School Vocal Music Association, they honored him as Teacher of the Year. Bloomfield Hills Schools awarded him with Master Teacher and Distinguished Service honors. The Michigan ACDA awarded him with a lifetime achievement award. He has traveled and performed with choirs on multiple European tours, on stage with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra and in concert with Kenny Rogers. One of his groups was asked to sing with Aretha Franklin when she recorded "I'll Fly Away". He is excited to have his beloved church choir involved in this concert.

Mission Hills United Church of Christ Chancel Choir
Angelica Eclar
The MISSION HILLS UCC CHANCEL CHOIR, comprised of singers aged 16-80+, is a mostly volunteer group of friendly folx who love to make music and worship together. After the pandemic, the group dwindled down to 9 people, but has grown to almost 30 in 3 short years. They are bound together by a love for community, a passion for music and a desire to make a difference in the world! This is a first trip to Carnegie Hall for most of the singers, and they are thrilled to be singing in such a beautiful space with all their fellow musicians!
ANGELICA ECLAR has loved choral music since childhood. She began singing in church when she was 2 and by the time she started conducting her church’s children’s choir at the age of 14, she was hooked! Angelica received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music from La Sierra University, and has been teaching and conducting for over 25 years. She is the Director of Vocal Music at Mission Hills UCC. Angelica resides in San Marcos, CA with her partner, Saige, and their furbaby, Miyuki. When not making music together, they enjoy cooking, eating, Netflixing, and spending time with dear friends.
