DCINY presents its annual performance of "The Music of Sir Karl Jenkins" with his beloved REQUIEM. Karl Jenkins is a Welsh musician whose music has been performed and celebrated around the world. Karl is a member of Classic FM’s ‘Ultimate Hall of Fame’ and was awarded Knighthood in the 2015 Queen’s Birthday Honours for his contributions to classical music worldwide.

Chariton High School Choir

Tyler J. Urich
The Chariton High School Concert Choir is under the direction of Mr. Tyler Urich. Mr. Urich earned his Bachelor of Music Education degree from Wartburg College in 2007, and has completed graduate work through the University of Northern Iowa. While at Wartburg, he had the opportunity to perform in some of the most famous opera houses and cathedrals in the world. In May of 2014, he was awarded the Professional Educators of Iowa Teacher of the Year award. He is currently in his 16th year of teaching and his 11th year at Chariton High School.
The Chariton High School Concert Choir, under the direction of Mr. Tyler Urich, is the premiere vocal ensemble at Chariton High School, Chariton, IA. The Concert Choir is comprised of 50 singers in grades 9-12. The choir rehearses and performs music of varying styles and genres. Each year, the choir looks foreword to presenting four concerts. In February, 2017, the Concert Choir made their Carnegie Hall premier, under the direction of Dr. Lee Nelson. They also performed in Carnegie Hall in February of 2020, under the direction of Mack Wilberg.

MANIANA FÜG, STEPHAN STRUNZ
Stephan Strunz has played various instruments since he was four. He studied music in Würzburg and Weimar. Besides his studies he also took classes in conducting. Since 2009, he has been a teacher for music at the Jean-Paul-Gymnasium. He is in charge of several orchestras and choirs at church. Maniana Füg has made music since she was five. She studied music and English in Zwickau and Chemnitz. She had been a teacher at a Waldorf school before teaching at the Jean-Paul-Gymnasium. Additionally, she worked for the institution of schooling and quality management in Munich conceiving the curriculum for music.
The choir is a typical school choir consisting of about 60 students of grade seven to twelve. Therefore, the mixed choir is in constant change. The choir participated in several concerts together with the Symphonic Orchestra Hof and the church choir of St. Michael in Hof. The students also took part in a competition of various choirs in upper Franconia, eventuated in a professional recording of a CD. The choir’s repertoire includes rock and pop music as well as classical music like Bach’s Christmas Oratorio or Bob Chilcott’s Peace-Mass. For this concert, 23 older students have gathered to join the project.

Brisbane Chorale

Emily Cox
One of Australia’s most experienced and versatile choral conductors, Emily Cox is Music Director of Brisbane Chorale, and Canticum Chamber Choir, two of Australia’s highly acclaimed choirs. Emily was recognised in the 2020 Australia Day Honours as a Member of the Order of Australia for “significant services to the performing arts through choral music”. American born and graduate of Dartmouth College, she emigrated to Australia, completing further conducting studies at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music. Emily has also studied in Europe, working with numerous renowned conductors. Her work with diverse arts companies and festivals has established her reputation as a creative music collaborator with an extensive body of repertoire.
Brisbane Chorale, a symphonic choir formed in 1983, has been under the leadership of Emily Cox AM since 2003. Its extensive repertoire spans music from the baroque to the present day and includes Australian and world premières. The Chorale collaborates with major orchestras, choirs and performance organisations including Queensland Performing Arts Complex and 4MBS Classic FM. Our 2022 performances were an Opera Gala with Queensland Symphony Orchestra, Mahler’s Symphony No 3 with Queensland Youth Symphony, Karl Jenkins’ Stabat Mater with Brisbane Symphony Orchestra and Haydn’s The Creation in collaboration with Oriana Choir. Cäcilienchor Thun

Daniela Brantschen
Daniela Brantschen, born in Burgdorf, Switzerland in 1989. She graduated from Burgdorf grammar school with a major in music. She took violin and cello lessons and played in various orchestra, also as leader and solo cellist. She took singing lessons in Bern and Barcelona and was a chorister and soloist in youth choirs in Switzerland and Spain. She completed her musical education in conducting, singing, piano, organ and music theory at the Lucerne School of Music and at Bern University of Arts. She is conducting several choirs and she is in charge of music and choir in the parish of Alpnach. Since the beginning of 2022, she is director of the Cäcilienchor Thun.
The Cäcilienchor Thun is an oratorio choir with a long tradition. Founded in 1910, it contributes to Thun's cultural life not only with the well-known sacred choral works, but also with valuable works from less known or contemporary composers. Recent concerts include works such as Bach's St. John Passion, Carmina Burana, Sacred Concert by Duke Ellington, Requiem by Brahms, The Armed Man by Karl Jenkins, Lauda Sion by Mendelssohn and the Mass in C major by Rheinberger. Since the beginning of 2022, the Cäcilienchor Thun is being directed by Daniela Brantschen, a young, enthusiastic and professional choirmaster.

Nova Voce

William Perrot
Bill Perrot graduated from Westminster Choir College in 1975. He has been involved in school, church and community choirs since his arrival in Nova Scotia. In 1982 he founded Kings Chorale, a non-auditioned community choir now celebrating its 40 Anniversary Season. In addition, in the spring of 2008 he was awarded the Alumni Merit Award from Westminster Choir College He joined the artistic team of Nova Voce in 2010 and is excited to share the conducting responsibilities with Bryan Crocker, Co-Artistic Director of Nova Voce and Artistic Director of the Halifax Gay Mens Choir.
In 2004, a new and distinctive voice was added to Nova Scotia’s choral landscape. Since then Nova Voce has been entertaining audiences in Nova Scotia and throughout Canada. As well the choir was invited to participate in Europa Cantat in 2012 in Turin, Italy. The choir regularly collaborates with other choirs and instrumental ensembles in Nova Scotia, and it has been one of the guest choirs for Podium 2008 and Podium 2014. (Podium is the national choral conference in Canada.) We are proud to be making our Carnegie Hall debut with DCINY.

St. Michaeliskantorei Hof

KMD Georg Stanek
Georg Stanek, born and raised in Ostheim in front of the Rhön, came into close contact with music as a child and played in various ensembles as a teenager. It was there that he came into contact with early music. After graduating from high school, he studied church music at the Church Music Academy in Bayreuth and the Music Academy in Lübeck. In February 2001 he came to Hof as city and deanery cantor at St. Michaeliskirche and was appointed director of church music there in 2015. Georg Stanek has continued and further developed the Dean's Office's longstanding musical collaboration with the Hofer Symphoniker. Again and again he gives great oratorio concerts with the St. Michaeliskantorei and the Hofer Symphoniker. He is also the artistic director of the Pilgramsreuth church music series. He gave numerous concerts throughout Germany and, in addition to engagements at the Thuringian Organ Summer, the presentation of the open-air organ by the organ building company Hoffmann at the EXPO 2000 on his concert programme.
The St. Michaeliskantorei Hof has existed for over 80 years. Her tasks include the performance of large oratorical works, as well as the care of a - cappella choral music. The broad spectrum of choral literature from the baroque to the modern is covered. Furthermore, the choir is active in the area of worship, for example at church high festivals as well as for the arrangement of cantatas.

Queen Eleanor Choir

Jessica Hunting
Jessica studied voice at the University of Huddersfield under the direction of Paul Wade, Opera North. She has led a varied career with many performing highlights including the BBC Proms in the Park and singing at prestigious venues including the O2, the NIA and the Royal Albert Hall. Jessica leads various independent choirs and international choir tours with particular highlights including singing with the Soweto Gospel Choir & being a part of sir Karl Jenkins World Peace concert in Berlin. Jessica enjoys exploring the holistic and healing side of singing and runs singing and mindfulness retreats across the UK.
The Queen Eleanor Choir have been singing together since 2017. An all female strong choir, they come together for weekly rehearsals and have enjoyed many performance opportunities and tours including trips to Salzburg & Berlin. They have performed many of Sir Karl Jenkins works including Songs of Sanctuary & The Armed Man. The choir are thrilled to be singing the Requiem at Carnegie Hall and look forward to the experience.

Pennsbury HS Concert Choir

James D. Moyer & Lindsey Strauss

JAMES D. MOYER, a native of Easton, Pennsylvania, is a veteran teacher of 30+ years and is in his 24th year as Director of Choral Activities at Pennsbury High School. Mr. Moyer also serves as the Coordinator of Vocal/Choral Music k-12 for the Pennsbury School District. There he oversees the Pennsbury High School Choral Music Department consisting of 7 choirs, over 400 students, and a choral staff of four persons. He is also the Director of Music at the Presbyterian Church of Lawrenceville (NJ). Mr. Moyer is co-author with Dr. Dennis Shrock of “A Conductor’s Guide to Choral/Orchestral Repertoire” published by GIA Music. He has also authored two chapters (Establishing Aural Standards and Touring with Your Choir) and edited the companion compact-disc for The School Choral Program published by GIA. His Pennsbury Chamber Choir is prominently featured in an aural study CD with The Choral Conductor’s Aural Tutor: Training the Ear to Diagnose Vocal Problems.  Active as a guest conductor and clinician, Moyer has lead choral festivals in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Virginia, Mississippi, North Carolina and was guest conductor of the summer High School Vocal Institute at Westminster Choir College in 2006. Mr. Moyer was one of the inaugural inductees into the Westminster Choir College Music Education Hall of Fame. Mr. Moyer holds a Bachelor of Music degree in voice/organ from Westminster Choir College in Princeton, New Jersey and a Master of Music degree in Choral Conducting from The University of Oklahoma.

LINDSEY STRAUSS graduated from Pennsbury High School in 2001 and earned a B.S. in Music Education, a B.A. in Vocal Performance from Lebanon Valley College, and a master's degree in Choral Education from Virginia Commonwealth University. She also served as Choral Director and Music Theory Teacher at North Stafford High School in Stafford, Virginia from 2005-2014. She was honored to be named "Teacher of the Year" in 2010. Lindsey is currently serving as a Choral Director at Pennsbury High School where she directs several choirs, is the Music Director for the Annual Spring Musical Production and is the Artistic Director of the Pennsbury Community Chorus. She resides in Yardley, PA with her two sons Benjamin and Jackson.

The Pennsbury High School Choral Music Department is composed of seven choirs spanning grades nine through twelve. The choral department is composed of nearly four hundred students. The choral department includes four academic choirs, an auditioned after school ensemble, a three-level Music Theory Program including AP Theory, and Music Technology courses. Four staff persons from varied backgrounds team-teach ensembles and classes within the department. The PHS Concert Choir is the top academic choir which meets every other day for a ninety minute class/rehearsal. The choir is made up of students in grades 10, 11 and 12.

Chor Capriccio (Bad Kreuznach/Germany)
Birgit Ensminger-Busse
Birgit Ensminger-Busse has studied Economie and Music/classical singing in Mainz and Stuttgart. In 2001 she graduated an additional training in church music. Since 1995 she is working in solo perfomances (Soprano), vocal-choaching and conducting choirs. She is dedicated choir director and representative for culture and music at the political level. With her family she lives in Bad Kreuznach, a town near Mainz and Frankfurt.
Chor Capriccio was founded in 2013 by Birgit Ensminger-Busse. 130 Chorists started to sing the 9th Sinfonie from Ludwig v.Beethoven with the famous conductor Prof. Justus Frantz. Actually the choir has 60 members and will be active as a concert choir. Oratories and music of all styles take place in the musical activities. The choir loves to travel and to bring music and people together. Concerts in France (Nancy/Metz), Italy (Venice) and Switzerland (Appenzell) and in Germany (Bavaria,Berlin) contain wonderful musical experiences. And in January 2023 the choir is proud to be in New York. In September 2023 the choir will have our great Jubilee-concert in Bad Kreuznach with compositions from Sir Karl Jenkins.
