Glacier Symphony and Chorale
James Stanard
Celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, the Glacier Symphony and Chorale is the premiere community-based musical organization in northwestern Montana. The 70-voice Glacier Chorale has performed such major works as Prokofiev’s Alexander Nevsky, Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony, and the Mozart and Durufle Requiems. A close-knit group of amateur musicians, Chorale members include physicians, dentists, lawyers, architects, teachers, writers, artists, and woods workers. Some singers commute as far as 150 miles round trip to attend rehearsals in Kalispell. Nineteen Glacier Chorale members have traveled to New York City for this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to perform Handel’s Messiah at Lincoln Center.

Anna's Bay Chorale

Anna's Bay Chorale (WA) The Anna’s Bay Chorale was formed in 2007 and quickly became the Anna’s Bay Center for Music’s flagship community music ensemble. The Chorale is a non-auditioned community choir open to any singer age 14 or higher with any level of singing experience and training. The Chorale’s season includes at least two masterwork concerts, including annual performances of Handel’s “Messiah” the second weekend of December. In the past several seasons the Chorale has also collaborated with the Bremerton Symphony and Bremerton Symphony Concert Chorale on programs featuring Bach, Bizet, Beethoven, Brahms, Puccini, Wagner, and more. The Chorale also supports Anna’s Bay’s programming for local schools by participating in joint concerts with local elementary and high school students, and is also heavily featured whenever Anna’s Bay produces a musical or operetta.
